West
Coast Express - Part 1
The West Coast Main Line is the
busiest mixed traffic railway in
the UK. It is absolutely central
to the provision of fast, long distance
Intercity passenger services between
London, the West Midlands, the North
West, North Wales and southern Scotland.
This line is also of strategic importance
in a European context as it is the
principal rail freight corridor
linking the European mainland (via
the Channel Tunnel) to the whole

of the busiest freight routes in
Europe.
